It’s time for another blog!
How fast time is going….. already we are in June and I am not really supposed to be around for too much longer according to the best guess of doctors…….. I am so thankful for them but they are not God.
BUT I am still here and, ridiculous as it may sound, am starting to map out (mostly in my mind so far) my next children’s book (egged on by one of my daughters, who really knows how to motivate!) I would really like to make it a trilogy – Greenstone Mystery, Acorn Adventures, and the new one!
As I have said before, writing a book is like having a baby – you do a lot of hard work and then the reward at the end of it all.
BUT I have also found that the mere process of writing the book has as much value as finally getting it into a publisher’s hands. The actual ‘doing’ is healing and helpful, never mind if it doesn’t ever get finished or published.
There is something inside us that demands that we continue to create, to use that God given gift, no matter how irrational it might seem. So I am not going to be put off by all those rational people who say “You can’t do it!”
I am also really pleased to see my fourth and fifth books, Acorn Adventures (children’s book) and Globetrotting on a Shoestring (short travel stories) out in the market place. And guess what? I have an interview on Radio Live here in Auckland, next Thursday, about the Globetrotting book. You see? Things don’t just stop because of a bad prognosis.
So wish me well as I soldier on…. at least, when it is time to go, I will be at a full sprint 🙂
